The Teachers

Pepa Palazon

Her Musicality classes are 100% practical.

We had the pleasure of having Pepa with us in Brugge (BE) in April 2026. It was a truly transforming weekend.

She specializes in teaching music to Tango Dancers, from the basis of Musical Audioperception (how to learn music from perception, from movement).

'We work on the verticality of Music, from dance: we study the different musical lines that are heard at the same time in a tango. If you can hear them, you can choose which line to dance and how to dance it. Separate those lines and teach, with the dance and with concrete musical examples, the main rhythmic and melodic elements that we find in the Traditional Tango Orchestras'.

Pepa is a graduate of the Conservatory of Music of Buenos Aires (in Tango and Folklore) and has specialized in musical training for tango dancers for the last 8 years.

Matias Tripodi

Born in Buenos Aires and based in Paris, Matias Tripodi is a tango dancer, teacher, and choreographer whose work brings together traditional tango, contemporary dance, and linguistics. He trained in Buenos Aires’ tango venues and at the Academia de Estilos de Tango Argentino, while studying linguistics at the University of Buenos Aires.

His artistic collaborations include Tanztheater Pina Bausch, the Paris Opera’s dancers and the Ballet de l’Opéra national du Rhin. He also developed an innovative system for notating tango movement, reflecting his ongoing exploration of how dance works and how it can be expressed.

Matias has already taught at two Totally in Tango events, where participants greatly enjoyed his teaching style. A committed double-role dancer who loves social dancing, he brings both his artistic curiosity and his experience on the social dance floor to his teaching. We’re delighted to welcome him back for Åsa.

We have known Carsta for many years. Since the very start of Totally in Tango we have collaborated.

Regardless of how long and intensively you have been dancing, Carsta will take you on a journey deeper into the Tango, encouraging you to expand your horizons, both in dance technique and in the interpretation of the music. Given the opportunity to explore both roles during the lessons, you can experience the dance as a whole. The broad range of images, used to explain physical processes helps you to develop your own tango.

Look forward to a refreshing, inspiring, and motivating class with Carsta!

Morning session,  with somatic movement, by Annika

The morning classes aim to gently wake up the body and prepare you for dancing and hours of embracing. We will learn to detect and release unwanted tension before it leads to pain while also improving our coordination and body awareness. Classes will include both embodied anatomy and slow, conscious movements. It is calming for the nervous system and can also be described as meditation in motion.

Some of the benefits of releasing unconscious muscle tension are that you will be able to dance with less effort and with greater precision. And of course, when you can be more aware and relaxed in your own body, it will have a positive effect on your dance partner.

Welcome to explore!
