Frequently Asked Questions About Totally in Tango

About Totally in Tango

1. What is Totally in Tango?

Totally in Tango (TiT) organises double-role Argentine tango events across Europe.

Founded in 2016 by Ludo Decreus and Julija Zaiceva, TiT brings together an international community of dancers who enjoy leading and following.

Our events combine a shared passion for Argentine tango with a warm, welcoming atmosphere, curiosity, friendship and the pleasure of dancing together.

2. What is double-role Argentine tango?

In double-role Argentine tango, dancers explore both leading and following, rather than limiting themselves to one role.

Dancing both roles offers new perspectives on connection, musicality and communication. It creates more freedom on the dance floor, more opportunities to dance with different partners and a deeper understanding of tango.

3. What makes Totally in Tango different from other tango events?

At Totally in Tango, double-role dancing is at the heart of the experience.

There are no fixed leaders or followers. Dancers can freely switch roles, invite each other to dance and explore different connections.

Each event has its own character, but they all share a relaxed, open and joyful atmosphere. Social dancing, friendship, mutual respect and the pleasure of being together are just as important as developing our tango skills.

Participation and Dance Roles

4. Do I need to dance both roles to participate?

Not necessarily!

Totally in Tango welcomes everyone who enjoys dancing both roles or is open to exploring them.

If you currently dance only one role, you're welcome to join us together with a double-role dancer.

We don't want to exclude anyone, but our events are specifically designed around the double-role experience, and we want to preserve that special atmosphere.

5. Do I need to be equally experienced in leading and following?

No. You don't need to have the same level of experience in both roles.

Some participants have danced both roles for many years, while others are still discovering their second role.

What matters most is your openness to learning, exploring and enjoying both perspectives of Argentine tango.

6. Do I need to register with a dance partner?

No! If you dance both roles, you are welcome to register individually.

At Totally in Tango, we dance with different people throughout the event. You don't need a fixed partner.

If you currently dance only one role, we ask you to attend together with a double-role dancer.

7. Is Totally in Tango a queer tango organisation?

No, Totally in Tango is not specifically a queer tango organisation. We welcome dancers from all tango communities and traditions, including queer tango.

At Totally in Tango, we are interested in DANCERS, their passion for Argentine tango and their openness to dancing both roles.

Leading and following are not defined by gender. Everyone is free to explore both roles, switch roles and enjoy dancing with different partners.

Who you are outside the dance floor, and how you choose to live your personal life, is entirely your own business.

What brings us together is our love of tango, mutual respect and the pleasure of dancing together.
