On Sunday morning we propose a group visit to the Tate Modern Museum,  for a guided tour of one of the running exhibitions (tba).

Julija and I met Adriana in Brussels in 2017, at the early start of  Totally in Tango. We were fascinated by her ideas and propositions. It took many years, but now we found a space to collaborate.

Adriana Pegorer is an interdisciplinary dance artist. In 2024, she started the Double Role London Practica, a horizontal space where fluid connections are made while dancing without the limitations that a class or a milonga may impose.

She belongs to the first generation of Contact Tango practitioners. Her training in Tango Argentino and Contact Improvisation began in the 1990s and she curated the first International meeting in 2012 near Berlin.
Adriana has taught Tango Argentino on her own since the beginning, dancing both roles also at Milongas, driven by necessity and …inspiration!

She has devised, performed, and produced experimental works mixing choreography with improvisation, dance videos and new technology. She holds a BA in Dance and Related Arts (2001) and an MA in Dance Anthropology (2024). Her work has been shown in Argentina, USA, Canada, Buenos Aires, China and Europe.

Her academic writings include "Performing Gender in Milongas of Buenos Aires" (2008),"Tango Diferente: Exploring Tango Argentino and Contact Improvisation at Ponderosa", (2013); "It takes two to win"(2015), "Why Contact Tango?" (2020) [also translated in Spanish and German] and "Female Tango Leaders"(2024).

Thursday evening

Claudio:

I grew up in Buenos Aires, in a home shaped by tango - my parents met dancing to D’Arienzo, my father played bandoneón, and their love of the dance filled the house with music and movement.

I came to tango as an adult, learning both roles, and was soon gripped by the emotional depth and energy of the music itself. Since 2017, I’ve been DJing for Queer Tango London, creating tandas that invite connection, presence, and flow. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing a floor come alive to the music I’ve chosen.

Friday afternoon

Adriana:

When I started the Double Role Tango Practica in London last October, I was keen to offer a place that was not a milonga setting. Instead, I envisioned a space where people could explore and experiment with their tango with others in a playful, supportive, open way. So I decided to suspend the tanda & cortina structure to allow for a different flow and dynamics to emerge. I selected some of the best traditional and alternative music I knew – some of which was suggested by the participants – and put that playlist in a shuffle mode. So far, it has worked very well. I invite you to share your favourite song during the registration process. Let’s dance!

Travel information after Brexit

Citizens of European countries who are used to traveling to the United Kingdom using a national ID card rather than a passport can no longer do so.

A passport is now required to cross the border. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of arrival in the United Kingdom. EU citizens can spend up to 90 days in the United Kingdom without a visa.

Next to the above, you have to apply for an 'ETA' (Electronic Travel Authorisation).  You can read about it here. You can apply through the ETA app or online.   The cost is 16 Pounds. It takes about 2-3 working days to obtain the ETA. It should not cost more than 16 Pounds.
