Our Vision:

Totally in Tango @ Bern will be a dance-focused double-role Argentine tango weekend.

We aim to bring together dancers from Switzerland and surrounding countries for a weekend of sharing, discoveries, new experiences, and local flavour.

The DJ’s will be local and international, bringing different styles of tango music, and always very danceable.

The Location:

Club Viento Sur is a true tango venue, managed by Sonia and Mario with an eye for aesthetic harmony and comfort for dancers. It used to be the presentation room of the famous Toblerone factory.  We are very happy that Totally in Tango will take place at their venue.

Bern is the legislative capital of Switzerland, big in many aspects, but still on a human scale.  Known for its relaxed charm, it features a UNESCO-listed medieval old town surrounded by the River Aare. The city boasts over 6 kilometers of covered shopping arcades (the Lauben), historic fountains, and iconic landmarks like the Zytglogge clock tower.

A quick breakdown of what makes Bern unique:

- The Old City: Rebuilt in local gray-green sandstone after a 1405 fire, it remains one of Europe's best-preserved medieval cityscapes.

- Key Landmarks: Includes the Federal Palace of Switzerland (home to the Swiss government), the Bern Minster cathedral, and the BearPark, the city's famous symbol.

- River Culture: During warmer months, the River Aare transforms into a popular, natural urban swimming experience.

- Panoramic Views: The Rose Garden (Rosengarten) sits on a hill overlooking the old town and the Alps.

We offer the opportunity to discover some of its beauty together with the other participants (see below at the ‘extra program’ section).

The   Teachers

Eva & Annika

Annika Pahlén (Sweden) & Eva Sacchi Conti (Switzerland)

Our friendship began at the ages 17 and 21, when we met at an international Lindy Hop dance camp in Sweden. From the very beginning, the joy of improvisation and the authenticity of Lindy Hop captured our hearts. Around the same time, we also discovered Argentine Tango - a dance that fascinated us with its depth, complexity and the silent conversation shared between two people.

While Lindy Hop and Tango may seem worlds apart, they beautifully complement one another. Lindy Hop’s lively movements and playful spirit contrast with Tango’s intimate, grounded presence, yet both dances share the same foundation: connection, musicality, improvisation and genuine communication. Born in the same era, they tell different stories, yet speak the same language.

Over the years, our dance journeys have taken different directions. Eva became one of the pioneers of Lindy Hop in Zürich, where she helped establish the local swing dance scene. Annika dedicated herself to Tango, teaching and helping develop the early tango community in Stockholm. Today, we continue to inspire each other and organise annual events in Switzerland where Tango and Lindy Hop meet.

Whenever we dance Lindy Hop during cortinas, tango dancers come up to us asking, “Can you teach us this?” We are delighted that the answer is yes!

In these two introductory classes, we will build on what you already know as tango dancers and show you how many transferable skills you already have. Our hope is that you'll discover the joy, freedom and playfulness of Lindy Hop—and be ready to dance your next cortina with a big smile.

More than thirty years after we first met, we still believe that dancing is about meeting people, listening, laughing and sharing moments without words. We can't wait to share that joy with you!

Sunday morning session,  with somatic movement, by Annika

Annika Pahlén, based in Sweden, is a physiotherapist, certified Somatic Movement Teacher, and founder of Somatic Tango, a movement-based approach exploring the relationship between somatic awareness and tango. With more than 20 years of experience in physiotherapy and somatic education, she combines her deep knowledge of the body with her passion for movement, tango, and human connection.

Through Somatic Movement, Annika guides dancers to release unnecessary tension, move with greater ease, and discover how greater body awareness can deepen the connection with their dance partner.

The Sunday Session with Somatic Movement gently prepares your body for a full day of dancing and joyful embracing. No prior experience is needed - bring you, your body, and your curiosity.
