Entre Dos - Duo de Tango: Maria Filali & Sigrid van Tilbeurgh

With over 25 years of passion as both dancers and teachers, we are deeply captivated by the art of movement. Throughout our journey, each of us has pursued a personal path, exploring and studying a wide range of disciplines within the dance world. This has naturally led us to develop a high-level body awareness technique, tailored to enhance the art of tango.

As long-time friends, we’ve always known that it takes two to tango. In 2020, when life presented the perfect opportunity, we decided to unite our individual experiences and shared values. This collaboration led us to craft a personal approach to tango, one that redistributes the roles within the dancing couple/duo, blending tradition with modernity and technique with emotion.

Above all, our mission is to uncover the freedom that comes with a deep connection in dance.

Maria and Sigrid have been teaching in Brugge in 2022, in the very same room where Destination Tango now takes place. It feels really good to have them back.  They will teach in English and French.

Pepa Pelazon

Her Musicality classes are 100% practical.

She specializes in teaching music to Tango Dancers, from the basis of Musical Audioperception (how to learn music from perception, from movement).

We work on the verticality of Music, from dance: we study the different musical lines that are heard at the same time in a tango. If you can hear them, you can choose which line to dance and how to dance it. Separate those lines and teach, with the dance and with concrete musical examples, the main rhythmic and melodic elements that we find in the Traditional Tango Orchestras.

Pepa is a graduate of the Conservatory of Music of Buenos Aires (in Tango and Folklore) and has specialized in musical training for tango dancers for the last 8 years.

No need to register with a partner. The classes will be given in English.

Practical:

  • There will be a maximum of around 30 Tangonauts participating in each voyage. This way, we keep an intimate atmosphere with an easy focus on the road ahead.

  • For social dancing, we dance to classical tango music during the classes and practices; other types of music might be used if deemed better suited by the Captains.

  • The classes will be given in English.

  • We welcome all dancers: leaders, followers, and double role dancers. The pace of the class will be adapted to double role dancers. Changing partners will be encouraged in the classes, but is not mandatory.

Each leg is a stand-alone exploration into one tango universe. We intend to invite the same captains in the future to continue exploring their universe.

We offer 2 formats, an all-in formula at 220 euros for one weekend, which includes all classes, all practices, and all social dance moments, and the meals mentioned in the program.

The other formula is classes only. This includes all the classes and the guided practica. The price for this formula is 150 euros.

Water, tea, and coffee are included. Other drinks are available with a self-service honesty bar system.

This project is developed in collaboration with Bario de Tango Brugge, our local tango community. We are grateful for their support and welcome all dancers to join the event.

Our hometown, Brugge, is a pearl waiting for you to be discovered. Every corner you turn opens up a new, amazing view. Come and be swept away by the rich history.

The venue is located at a 10-minute walk from the Brugge train station. Brugge has lodging for all budgets.  Everything within the city walls is reachable on foot. You can rent a bicycle at the train station for  12 euros per day. Lodging outside of the city walls can be a bit cheaper.

On Saturday morning, there is a market on 'Het Zand' square, only 5 minutes away from the venue.
